Chicago Food Culture

Chicago is known for a lot of things, mainly the wind, but equally, Chicago is famous for its diverse culture and food options! In fact, recent statics indicate there are over 7,300 options to choose from! Of course, ask any Chicago resident what puts them on the map and the likely answer will be PIZZA!

Tommy’s Red Hots has been proudly serving Chicagoland since 1980. We value our customers by providing exceptional Personal Service, Great Food, and Unbelievable Prices. We encourage you to visit one of our 6 locations and find out for yourself. Besides the pizza, here are some other things that Chicago is famous for and worth a stop, according to Chicago Food Planet.

Garrett Mix at Garrett Popcorn
Since 1949, Garrett Popcorn has been serving handcrafted, freshly made, kettle popcorn to the masses (including the lucky folks on our Best of Chow Food Tour). Their menu items go from plain for your Aunt Jane to Buffalo Ranch for your sassy friend Ange. We love the Garrett mix though because it blends the savory taste of cheddar cheese with the crème brulee sweetness of caramel. As the meme says, why not both?

Pepper and Egg Sandwich at Fiore’s
If you visit Chicago in the spring, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to try a Chicago tradition that few outsiders know about. We’re talking about the pepper and egg sandwich that pops up only during Lent. Slices of sautéed green and red peppers are whisked into soft, scrambled eggs and later piled into a chewy Italian roll. Head to Chicago’s Ukrainian Village Fiore’s Delicatessen for this seasonal breakfast. Their sandwich is so good, it’s downright sinful.

Caramel Cake at Brown Sugar Bakery
Chicago has been a center of black culture since its very founding and there are a wide variety of eateries that pay homage to that. A case in point is Brown Sugar Bakery, a popular South Side venue. Owner Stephanie Hart serves up a slice of her southern roots with decadent cakes, cupcakes, and puddings that taste like grandma’s cooking. Now with a Navy Pier location, more people can indulge in a Caramel Cake so good, burglars once made it a point to steal all of them—and leave all other valuables untouched.

We value every customer that walks through the doors at Tommy’s Red Hots. All our customers are treated with respect and loyalty, but most importantly, with great service and great food. Don’t forget our prices are unbeatable, and we encourage you to find out for yourselves. Check out our menu online or call us at (815)893-6537 today!
